Early Neural Changes as Underlying Pathophysiological Mechanism in Diabetic Retinopathy

چکیده

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease often accompanied by diabetic retinopathy (DR), one of the most common complications. DR an eye condition that causes vision deficiency and leads to blindness. develops when blood vessels damage retina, light-sensitive tissue at back eye. Before changes in retinal vessel permeability, different molecular anatomical modifications take place including early neural changes. This review will summarize current status knowledge regarding pathophysiological mechanisms underlying DR, with special focus on associated DR. We describe hyperglycemia-associated cellular alterations linked initiation progression also discuss neurodegeneration as shared feature vitro vivo models Given how ubiquitous diabetes severe effects are, we examine pharmacological genetic approaches for combatting this disease.

Microglial changes occur without neural cell death in diabetic retinopathy

Very early neuroglial changes have been observed to precede major vascular changes in the retina of diabetic patients and animal models. We investigated the sequence of these neuroglial changes further, in mice with alloxan-induced diabetes. Diabetes was induced by a single injection of Alloxan into C57/Bl6 mice, which subsequently received daily insulin injections. Diabetic and control animals...

Review on Early Neurodegenerative Changes in Diabetic Retinopathy

Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a common complication of diabetes which is the 5th primary cause of blindness globally and leading cause of blindness in the developed countries in adults at working age. This is a metabolic disorder that produces various dysfunctions in the body through Oxidative stress induced by chronic hyperglycemia. It has a direct outcome on metabolism within the neural retina...

Neurodegeneration as an early event in diabetic retinopathy.

f l t i s e r m s c i t d o o ( t m s a e Diabetic retinopathy (DR) remains the leading cause of blindness among working-age people in developed countries1. Tight control of blood glucose levels and blood pressure is essential for preventing or arresting DR development. However, therapeutic objectives are difficult to achieve and DR therefore occurs in a high proportion of patients. Once DR app...

Retinylamine Benefits Early Diabetic Retinopathy in Mice.

Recent evidence suggests an important role for outer retinal cells in the pathogenesis of diabetic retinopathy (DR). Here we investigated the effect of the visual cycle inhibitor retinylamine (Ret-NH2) on the development of early DR lesions. Wild-type (WT) C57BL/6J mice (male, 2 months old when diabetes was induced) were made diabetic with streptozotocin, and some were given Ret-NH2 once per we...
